An afternoon with Debussy and Prokofiev

Sergei Prokofiev: String Quartet no. 1 in B minor op. 50
Claude Debussy: String Quartet in G minor op. 10
Claude Debussy: Clair de Lune, arranged for string quartet

Matti Koponen, violin, programme planner
Kati Overbeck, violin, programme planner
Mari Viluksela, viola
Larimatti Punelpuro, cello

The first chamber music recital of the autumn is a feast of string quartets at Turku Castle. Prokofiev’s String Quartet no. 1 is rarely performed but is brisk, rhythmic and energetic. It is paired with Debussy’s classic, a more Impressionist and freely conceived number. Dessert, as it were, comes in the form of the lovely and popular piano piece Claire de lune, arranged here for string quartet.

The concert will be held in the King's Hall. Information about fully accessible entrance can be found at the Turku Castle's website: https://www.turku.fi/en/turku-castle/welcome-museum/accessibility
