Fagerlund’s Preghiera is a prayer in music, a call to silence and meditation. This is followed by florid music from the Italian Baroque: Stabat Mater evokes the suffering of Mary at the foot of Jesus’ cross, while Filiae maestae Jerusalem focuses on the mourning after his death. The titular messenger in the work by Ukrainian composer Silvestrov carries messages between this world and the next. The programme provides a powerful and memorable experience for Good Friday.
The length of the concert is about 1 h 15 min. No intermission.
