Andreas Anthopoulos
Andreas was born in Athens, Greece in 1997. He began playing the piano at the age of 10 at the Maroussi Municipal Conservatory and later bassoon at the Pallini Music School.
He has collaborated with various orchestras such as Kammer Simfonie Bremen, City of Athens Symphony Orchestra, Tampere Filharmonia, Helsinki Philharmonic and Pori Sinfonietta.
In October 2019, he participated at the debut concert of the Athens Philharmonic in Carnegie Hall in New York City, for charity.
Since 2018 he has held the position of 1st bassoonist with the Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra (GYSO), where he has performed numerous concerts in Europe and the US.
In 2022 he received his Bachelor of Music degree, majoring in bassoon and minoring in piano, with Prof. Alexei Tkachuk at the University of the Arts in Bremen, Germany.
Since September 2022, he is doing his Master’s degree in bassoon performance with Jaakko Luoma, planned to graduate in June 2025, at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland.
Since August 2024 he holds the position of bassoon/contrabassoon at the Turku Philharmonic.
