Nevio Ciancaglini

Clarinet

Italian clarinetist Nevio Angelo Ciancaglini is the Section Principal Clarinet of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra in Finland. His professional career is distinguished by experience across the Nordic and European orchestral scenes, where he has collaborated as a guest Principal with institutions such as the Helsinki Philharmonic, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the Tapiola Sinfonietta, the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, I Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, and the Ulster Orchestra in Belfast, among others.

Nevio began his professional musical education in Italy under the guidance of Alfonso Giancaterina and Giovanni Picciati, earning his Master’s degree with honors and special mention from the Conservatorio “Achille Peri” in Reggio Emilia. He completed his advanced professional training at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with Andreas Sundén, further refining his artistry in masterclasses with world-renowned musicians such as Martin Fröst, Yehuda Gilad, Calogero Palermo, and Nicolas Baldeyrou.

His artistic merit has been recognized since the early stages of his career through victories in several national and international competitions for young musicians, as well as prestigious scholarships awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Music and the ‘Del Rio’ Music House. Alongside his performing career, Nevio is dedicated to pedagogy and will join the faculty of the Turku University of Applied Sciences (Turku AMK) as a clarinet teacher starting in 2026.
