Ramona Wolin-Takala

Viola

Ramona Wolin-Takala began her musical studies with the violin at the Vakka-Suomi Music Institute in Uusikaupunki at the age of six. At fifteen, she continued her violin studies at the Turku Conservatory, but after just a few lessons, she found herself in the adjacent viola class. The deeper sound of the viola captivated her.

Harri Sippel, familiar from the conservatory, also became Wolin-Takala’s teacher at Turku University of Applied Sciences, where she graduated as a music pedagogue in 2004. She earned her Master of Music degree from the Sibelius Academy in 2011, studying under Matti Hirvikangas, Jouko Mansnerus, Helge Valtonen, and Anna Kreetta Gribajcevic. She has also participated in numerous masterclasses.

Wolin-Takala became a permanent member of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra in autumn 2008, having already grown fond of the orchestra while working as a substitute. She has performed with many Finnish orchestras and smaller ensembles. What she enjoys most about orchestral work is its variety, the different concerts—and of course, the lunch breaks.

She lives in a former village school in the peaceful countryside with her husband. In her free time, Wolin-Takala enjoys renovating her home and yard. She loves silence and a schedule-free life, enjoys being at home, gardening, and summer. She devours candy and popcorn, makes lists about almost everything, cleans excessively, exercises, is a fan of Tommi Läntinen, and dreams of traveling more.
