The Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and Chief Conductor John Storgårds will open the Turku Concert Hall’s final autumn season with a spectacular celebration. There are several heroes of the day, as Candide celebrates its 70th anniversary, composer Marc Neikrug turns 80 in September, and The Noon Witch premiered 130 years ago. From Bernstein’s exuberant operetta overture and Neikrug’s theatrical Fourth Symphony the journey continues into the world of Dvořák’s Czech folk tales and music. The threatening and melancholic atmosphere of The Noon Witch is balanced by the warm romanticism and lyricism of the piano concerto.
