A new era for the orchestra begins now! Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and Chief Conductor John Storgårds inaugurate the Music Hall Fuuga and its Concert Hall. Music will be heard for the first time by the public in the long-awaited acoustics of Fuuga, and Wagner’s festive overture from Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg is a fanfare for a new era not only in the history of the orchestra, but also in the musical life of Finland as a whole. Soprano Karita Mattila has chosen songs by Sibelius and Berg for the opening program, interspersed with the world premiere of Ukrainian composer Poleva’s Eirene, Peace. TPO warmly welcomes its audience to its new hall with the monumental grandeur of Sibelius’s Kalevala, Lemminkäinen’s Return.
