The soul of jazz and symphonic splendour come together again as the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and the Turku Jazz Orchestra join forces! ‘All That Jazz’ sweeps the audience along on a sparkling, nostalgic journey through the decades of jazz, progressing from 1920s ragtime through bebop, cool jazz and hard bop to the modern styles of today. The soloist is the brilliant Iiro Rantala, known for his spirited improvisation and versatile musical expression. The evening will feature some of the most iconic works in jazz history, such as ‘King Porter Stomp’, ‘Caravan’, ‘Confirmation’, ‘Blue In Green’ and ‘Spain’. The arrangements are by conductor Teemu Takanen. The programme concludes with works from the 2000s, including some of Iiro’s own compositions. The concert opens the Turku Jazz Festival’s 10-day programme.
